Ecclesiastes 5:15-20
At the end of his life, Solomon reflected on the toils of life and the vocation we commit our lives to each week. In verse 15, he reminds us of the reality that we came into this world with nothing, and with nothing, we will leave this mortal life. As the old saying goes, “You can’t take it with you!”
A Christian is to live as Christ lived—sacrificially. The only way to fully live out the Christian faith is to give everything. Understanding that the money we have is a blessing from God helps us hold loosely to our wealth, allowing for opportunities to bless others. Giving our tithe becomes more than a 10 percent tax on our income; it becomes a lifestyle of giving back to God what is already His.
We can enjoy God’s blessings because they are from Him. Understanding this helps us to freely give back to God and bless others because He has blessed us.
