Acts 4:4-12
Many are looking for salvation, although they might not see it that way. Some look for salvation through money. If I can make a certain amount of money each year then I’ll be safe. There are others who look for salvation through social media. If I can receive lots of “likes” on my social media posts, I will be known. My popularity on social media will save me from loneliness. Some look for salvation through their job or career. They work hard, committing long hours every week to their job to prove to themselves and others that they are dependable and valuable.
There are many other names by which we look for salvation: safety, power, control, relationships, and independence among others. Yet none of these avenues bring wholeness and deep abiding peace. There is no other name but Jesus’ who gives us that for which we are truly longing. Jesus heals our deepest needs and desires. As we abide in Jesus and grow in His love, acceptance, and grace, we can find the other pursuits for salvation fall away.
