1 Corinthians 15:1-8

It’s amazing how simple the gospel is. In Paul’s letter to the church in Corinth, he points out their stand on the gospel. He passed down the word and the Corinthian believers received it!

Christ died for our sins according to the Jewish Scriptures.

Jesus was buried.

On the third day, He was raised.

Jesus made sure that there were witnesses.

In other words, this hope was not a fairy tale repeated. This hope was foretold long ago.

We who read the New Testament may not have walked the Emmaus road, chatting with Jesus for miles about the fulfillment of the Scriptures; however, we do have witnesses to the events around Jesus’ death and resurrection. The soldier who saw the sun disappear witnessed it. The soldier who speared Jesus in the side witnessed it. The centurion, terrified by the earthquake, who stated afterward, “Surely he was the Son of God!” (Matthew 27:54) witnessed it. When the curtain tore and the stones shook, the priests in the temple witnessed it! Our hope is in their testimonies.
