John 6:30-40
“Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him” (Psalm 34:8). The promise from John 6 is the same as the one the psalmist shared many, many years before. Jesus is our gift. He is the promised one, and He alone can satisfy.
Physical hunger is one thing. Those of us who have ever been hungry know hunger and thirst is intense. When you are hungry or thirsty, nothing else will satisfy. Once I was walking through a season of intense grief. I had forgotten to eat for several days when a friend offered me a meal I would normally reject. My body, however, was so famished it actually tasted good.
Those of us who are spiritually hungry know this same truth. Only Jesus can satisfy. Remember the promise: “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). When He is what we seek, we will not know hunger or thirst, for only He truly satisfies.
